Terms of use
Last updated 20 August 2026
By using HomeEnergyCost you accept these terms. They are short because the site is simple: it publishes energy prices and runs calculations on them.
Estimates, not advice
Everything this site produces is an estimate for general information. It is not professional, financial, or engineering advice, and it is not a quote. The calculators do not know your home’s insulation, ductwork, roof condition, equipment age, or local labour rates — all of which can move the real figure substantially.
Get a quote from a qualified contractor before spending money on equipment. Decisions you make based on this site are your own.
Accuracy
Energy prices come from the US Energy Information Administration and are republished without adjustment. EIA figures lag by roughly two months and are revised from time to time. Solar production estimates come from NREL’s PVWatts and are modelled, not measured.
We take care to represent these sources faithfully, but we do not warrant that the site is accurate, complete, or available without interruption. Where we have no current figure for a state, we say so rather than substituting an average.
Acceptable use
- Use the site for personal, non-commercial purposes, or to inform work on your own property.
- Do not scrape, bulk-download, or systematically copy the data. The underlying sources are public — take it from EIA directly instead, which is faster for you and kinder to us.
- Do not attempt to disrupt the site or gain access to systems behind it.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of this site or reliance on its estimates.
